Online Marriage Certificate Delhi service is available on website of Delhi Government and married couples can avail this service whenever they need it.
To avail this service husband and wife has to provide date of birth proof of both , address proof of husband and wife, marriage ceremony photos, marriage invitation card and passport size photo of husband and wife and all these documents have to be uploaded online on portal of Delhi Government. In addition to aforesaid documents, affidavits of husband and wife are also required to arrange appointment.
Total two witnesses who can be anyone from anyside with pan card and address proof are also required. Pan card is mandatory document. For Special Marriage Act total 3 witnesses are required.

Only Monday, Wednesday and Friday are Government working days for this service and no public holiday should be on that day.
After all documents and affidavits are uploaded on portal of Delhi Government website then appointment for Online Marriage Certificate from concerned SDM can be arranged within 1 or 2 days as per convenience of parties on working days only. The timings of appointment are between 10AM to 11:16AM.
Delhi Government portal gives appointment under normal and tatkal both. Government fee is INR 1000 for tatkal in addition to registration fee which is INR 500.
There is a late fine of INR 500 if marriage registration is not done within 60 days and fine increases to INR 1000 if registration is not done within 120 days from the date of marriage.
Marriage Certificate Online is a very important document which is issued by Government to prove that two people are legally married and this certificate can be used for different purposes such as visa application, insurance claim, address change and so on.
If marriage was solemnised between two Hindus then certificate is issued under Hindu Marriage Act. Hindus, Sikhs, Jain and Buddhists are governed by Hindu Marriage Act 1955.
If marriage is solemnised between Muslims, Christians or inter- religious husband and wife then marriage is covered under Special Marriage Act 1954 and it takes around 35 to 40 days to get online marriage certificate. Husband, wife and three witnesses have to appear twice under Special Marriage Act.
Under Special Marriage Act first appearance is done within 2 to 4 days and second after 30-34 days. There is no way in which any appearance can be exempted.
Anand Marriage Act applies to married couples of Sikh community only. The procedure is same as Hindu Marriage Act but an extra form has to be filled which should be attested by any gazetted officer.
Christian couple can register their marriage under Christian Marriage Act also. Two visits are required under this Act and it normally takes 5 to 7 days to get the marriage certificate.
For Muslims the Nikahnama should be in English otherwise translation from Urdu or Arabic to English by a government approved translator is required.
